MCPD Arrests – Tuesday 4/26

The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department.  All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

04/26/2016- At approximately 12:40 pm, the Mt. Carmel Police responded to a 2 vehicle accident in the 200 block of W. 9th Street.  According to the police report, Lawrence C. Wells, age 54, of Mt. Carmel was operating a 2000 Chevrolet when he failed to reduce speed at a stop light causing him to strike a 2013 Ford being driven by Lori Swartz of Mt. Carmel.  During the investigation it was determined that Wells was driving on a suspended driver’s license.  Wells was arrested and cited for driving while suspended and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.  A passenger in the Wells vehicle was transported to Wabash General Hospital for minor injuries.  Wells was held at the Wabash County Jail until he posted bond.

Mt. Carmel Police arrested 25 year old Daniel B. Allega of Mt. Carmel on one charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after an investigation was initiated last Friday.  Police allege that Allega knowingly committed an act of sexual conduct with a female he knew was under the age of 17.  Allega was arrested and is currently being held in the Wabash County Jail where he is awaiting a bond hearing.

Mt. Carmel Police arrested a 17 year old juvenile on his way to the Mt. Carmel High School.  According to the police report, the arresting officer stopped the 17 year old after he noticed he was not properly wearing his seat belt.  During the stop the arresting officer could smell cannabis coming from the vehicle.  The MCHS student was found to be in possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.  The 17 year old was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.  After processing the juvenile he was then transported to MCHS by School Resource Officer G. Hart.
