The Carmi-White County Girls Basketball team continues to dominate the early portion of the season, picking up two wins on Monday and Tuesday to stay unbeaten at 9–0 and improve to 3–0 in Black Diamond Conference play.
CWC opened the week on Monday night with a hard-fought 46–31 victory over Fairfield in a true defensive slugfest from start to finish. Neither team found much rhythm offensively, and the numbers tell the story. The Lady Bulldogs shot just 32% (13-for-41) from the field and went 1-for-14 from beyond the arc. Fairfield struggled even more, shooting 25% (12-for-48) and connecting on only 2-of-22 attempts from three-point range.
What ultimately separated the two squads was Carmi’s efficiency at the free-throw line. The Lady Bulldogs knocked down 19-of-21 attempts, helping secure the win in the final minutes.
Addi Elliott and Torrie Rider led the team with 15 points each, while Caroline Simmons added 14. Jaya Smith chipped in 2 points in the win.
On Tuesday night, Carmi-White County looked much more comfortable offensively, rolling past Hardin County 70–19 in a dominant performance. In a varsity-only contest, the Lady Dogs were able to rest their starters in the second half, spreading the scoring across nearly the entire roster.
Caroline Simmons led the way with 14 points, followed by Addi Elliott with 13. Norah Taylor reached double figures with 10, while Ella Newell added 6 and Sydney Stallings scored 5. Natalie Goemaat, Quincy Acord, and Maggie Pearce each contributed 4 points. Jaya Smith and Annie Winkleman scored 3 apiece, and Eva Attebury and Addi Courson each added 2 points.
Now 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the Black Diamond Conference, Carmi-White County will look to keep the momentum going on Thursday when they travel to Flora for another conference matchup.
