Wednesday morning, the Carmi Police Department K9 unit, along with K9 units from the Edwards County Sheriff’s Department and the Mt. Carmel Police Department conducted a detail at Carmi White County High School that resulted in the arrest of a seventeen year old juvenile.
Around 9:15 am, the K9 alerted on a red 1994 Jeep Cherokee parked on 7th Street. The male juvenile was summoned from class, and gave police consent to search the vehicle. Inside, officers discovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia, alcohol, ammunition, and brass knuckles.
The seventeen year old was taken into custody and transported to the White County Jail. He has been charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of ammunition without a FOID card, unlawful use of weapons, and was cited for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released into the custody of his parents.
