The Indiana Department of Transportation announced today that the eastbound driving lane of State Road 62 (Lloyd Expressway) between Fulton Avenue and Wabash Avenue in Evansville will be closed until further notice while crews correct an issue on the SR62 bridge over Pigeon Creek.
Upon inspection of the bridge, INDOT identified movement in the bridge’s bearing pads beneath the eastbound driving lane. While this is not an issue that compromises the overall safety of the bridge, it does require repair and a lane closure until that work is complete.
Work on the bridge will include resetting and stabilization of the bearing pads. INDOT crews are currently working to assess and properly address the situation. Currently, there is no timeline on the work once the assessment is complete, however repairs could take several weeks.
