Illinois American Water Issues Boil Water Order for Customers in Elizabethtown, Cave-in-Rock, Herod, Equality and Junction
A water main break in Saline Valley Conservancy’s distribution system has resulted in a boil water order

Due to a water main break occurring in Saline Valley Conservancy’s distribution system, Illinois American Water has issued a boil water order for customers in Elizabethtown, Cave-in-Rock, Herod, Equality and Junction.

A map of the affected area can be viewed here – https://arcg.is/2kN4Ow4

Saline Valley Conservancy supplies Illinois American Water with water, therefore this water main break affects water service to the Hardin County Water District service area and a boil water order has been issued. Customers in the affected area should bring their water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. Water is OK for bathing, washing and other common uses.

This boil order is being issued in accordance with Illinois EPA regulations. Anytime water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch in any part of a community’s distribution system, a boil order must be issued as a precaution to protect customers.
