Hometown Hero Getting House Remodel

BYA_Logo_nostanleyA hometown hero is getting a home remodel this weekend thanks to Stanley hand tools.  A friend of Sergeant Jim Pfister shared his story with Stanley Tools after the company launched its “Build Your America” campaign.  The Vitenam POW will be honored with a ceremony on Saturday at 12:30 while a team of contractors and soldiers from Fort Campbell will be on hand to do the remodel worth up to $10,000.

US Army Sergeant James Pfister was aboard a helicopter during his second tour in Vietnam when the aircraft was shot down and he was taken as a POW.  After spending nearly 1,900 days, about 5 years in captivity, Pfister was finally released on March 5th, 1973.  Pfister retired from the Army 30 years ago this July and until retirement in 2010, served as a Veterans representative for the State of Indiana.  He has helped other veterans find employment and helping them to obtain benefits for any disabilities they suffered.

House of Heroes is working with Stanley Tools on the project.
