Grayville and Crossville Leaders Set to Convene

A fairly light agenda for Grayville leaders tonight.  They’ll gather at 7pm at city hall with two items of old business, one new business topic, and a couple purchase orders.  Among old business on the agenda includes the 2025-2026 Tax Levy estimate and park projects.  On new business, commissioners will hear a request for the VFW/American Legion use of the 4-way on Saturday, November 8th for the annual Poppy Day.  There are two purchase order approvals set for consideration as well.

Crossville leaders are set to gather Tuesday evening at 6:30pm.  New business items for consideration and discussion include bids for a Hahn firetruck, a laptop, and seasonal items surrounding a Christmas party and bonuses.  We’ll have a reporter on site for the meeting and will be interested to see if trustees or the mayor have any comments given a recent social media post from Chris Birkla after the Village of Crossville opted for a change in service from Crossville Communications to PC Doctors.  In her post, Birkla, who works at Crossville Communications, says the company provided free telephone and internet services to the Village Maintenance Department at a value of $100 per month, shared WiFi to the Village for cameras at Jacobs Park, and offered to provide free internet to Tiger Park that would’ve included secure WiFi for cameras and open public WiFi during events.  Crossville leaders went with a proposal from PC Doctors that the mayor said initially would save the village hundreds of dollars per month.  Additional findings and needs have lowered those savings significantly and as Birkla says, ignore the value that Crossville Communications provided to the village.
