The CWC School Board meeting met briefly for their monthly meeting, with only a couple of items on the agenda.
Superintendent Jarrod Newell presented the Fiscal Year 2027 preliminary budget, noting that it will be on display for 30 days for public review, and that a special meeting will be held on September 21 at 5:45 pm to adopt it.
There was only one update from school administrators: Mr. King highlighted the vocational programs and dual credit courses offered to students at Carmi-White County High School. The district currently offers career pathway endorsements in industrial maintenance, industrial arts, and CAN opportunities. King stated they are looking to add construction, HVAC, and electrical endorsements soon. So far, there are 13 students enrolled in the vocational programs offered through SIC, the largest enrollment to date, and 9 students participating in the CNA class.
Regarding dual credit, King explained that the district has eight transferable dual credit classes: college algebra, college statistics, college algebra/pre-calculus, calculus, Spanish 121 and 122, advanced chemistry, and American history.
