A fatal car accident is being investigated in Saline County after a Highway Department mowing crew discovered a car at the bottom of a deep ditch.
According to a press release from Sheriff Keith Brown, the accident scene was found at 3:09 pm Wednesday on Walnut Grove Road. Sheriff’s deputies found that one victim was inside the vehicle, which was obscured from the road, and that the vehicle had been there for some time. Coroner Jerry Doug Williams pronounced the victim deceased and the body was transported to the Williamson County morgue for autopsy and positive identification.
The accident is being investigated by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, the Saline County Coroner’s Office, and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department. The Carrier Mills Fire Department assisted at the scene, which closed the road for about four hours.
