The White County Farm Bureau is offering ten, $200 vouchers toward the purchase of cover crop seed. Doug Anderson, County Farm Bureau manager, says one of the priorities of the organization is to help farmers meet the goals of the Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy. That plan calls for a reduction in phosphorous loss by 25% and nitrate loss of 15% by the year 2025, with the eventual target being nutrient load reduction of 45%. In addition, Anderson says farmers are eligible for additional financial support through the USDA Market Facilitation Program if they utilize cover crops on prevented plant acres. The vouchers are good at any farm supply retailer in White County.
