The case of the People versus Darren Hays will remain in White County but a Cumberland County Judge has been assigned to preside over the case. On March 13th, a day after Hays arrest, White County Judge T. Scott Webb recused himself from the case and called on Chief Judge of the Second Judicial Circuit Court for another appointment saying all judges sitting in White County would be conflicted. Tuesday, Morgan assigned Circuit Judge Jonathan Braden of Cumberland County to preside over the case. A first appearance and detention hearing have been scheduled for Thursday at 1pm.
