A Carmi woman is behind bars after Carmi Police say she was caught attempting to defraud a drug test at the White County Probation office Wednesday. 48-year-old Gretchen Cruse was arrested just after 11am Wednesday after they say she was in possession of both urine and a device used to defraud a drug screen. She was sentenced to 2 years probation in May on an April plea deal included a conviction on a Possession of a Controlled Substance charge. In White County court Wednesday the 6-month stayed jail sentence Cruse picked up in that plea deal was lifted according to online records. She’ll be back in court Thursday morning for a status hearing.
