Fifty three new resident cases of CoViD-19 yesterday…that’s the news out of the Egyptian Health Department. Of those, 33 were Saline County residents and 5 of them boys under the age of 10. In Gallatin County, 5 new cases have been reported and here in White County, we have 15 new cases…8 female and 7 men. That brings the White County total, if you’re keeping track, to 1,284 lab confirmed cases. 22 patients have died. Next door in Hamilton County, the health department has reported 11 new cases. That makes for 614 lab confirmed positive cases of the novel coronavirus there and includes 12 deaths. 45 folks are currently under isolation orders in Hamilton County and 2 are hospitalized.
Edwards County reported eight new cases of COVID-19 yesterday on http://www.coronavirus.illinios.gov and sat at 419; it also reported one additional COVID-related death on the state site, bringing that total to six. Wabash County reported 18 new cases and sat at 1,067, and White County added 15 and sat at 1,284. The state Department of Public Health announced 6,839 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 yesterday and 125 additional deaths. Statewide totals sat at 991-719 cases and 16,959 deaths. The Southern Region had a positivity rate of 11.5 percent on January 2nd, up from 11.4 percent on the 1st.
