The City of Carmi will be smoking sanitary sewer lines in the area of Plum Street, west to Haley Drive and south to Route 1 and Main Street.
City Supervisor Mike Buckman says that the project should take one to two weeks, weather permitting.
If residents should see smoke in their basements, or coming up from the ground, they are asked to inform a city worker or call the office at 382-8118. The smoke is harmless, but is used to find breaks in sewer lines.
