Carmi-White County Wrestling Sweeps Tri-Meet at Breese Central

The Carmi-White County wrestling team traveled to Breese on Tuesday night and picked up three dominant wins over Sparta, Breese Central, and North Mac.

CWC opened the night with a 51-24 win over Sparta, powered by pins from Connor Benham and Jazz Duckworth. Cole Evans added a decision victory, while the Bulldogs also picked up several forfeits awarded to Dylan Combs, Kenny Clark, Nolan Garner, Cameron Winter, Branson Burnett, and Laeden Vargas.

The Bulldogs kept rolling in their second matchup, knocking off host Breese Central 48-28. Benham stayed hot with another pin, joined by Evans and Burnett, who also stuck their opponents. CWC again benefited from a run of forfeits, with Combs, Clark, Garner, Hayden White, and Vargas all earning uncontested wins.

Carmi closed out the night with its most lopsided victory, a 72-6 rout of North Mac. Benham capped off a perfect individual night with his third pin of the meet, while Garner added another fall. The Bulldogs picked up forfeits through the rest of the lineup, awarded to Combs, Gage Anderson, Clark, Duckworth, Caleb King, Evans, Burnett, White, and Vargas.

The Bulldogs will turn right around and travel to Johnston City on Wednesday for the BDC duals, where they’ll face Goreville, Fairfield, and Johnston City. Whoever wins all three matchups will be crowned conference champions, giving CWC plenty on the line as they continue their strong stretch of wrestling.
