Carmi Rotary leans about new newspaper in town

At Thursday’s Rotary meeting, Kent Armstrong introduced Patrick Seil and Steve Hartsock of the new Carmi Chronicle.  The new paper is located in the Reppert Office Supply on Main Street.  Patrick is partners with Jerry Reppert in S&R who publish papers.  Patrick and Steve told the club about their many years in the newspaper business in the Grayville and Fairfield areas.  They both talked about the importance a newspaper brings to a community.  If done right, a newspaper can bring value and community pride to a town.  The partners answered several questions asked by the Rotarians.

In club business, Rotarians unanimously approved the sponsorship of a team in the Carmi Summer Recreation League.  Kent Armstrong named Kenny Harrelson as the phantom.  Helen Sexton won the honor of selecting the pink ball in the 50/50 drawing but did not so the large pot rolls over.  Andy Williams and Little Giant prepared a delicious meal for the club.  The club meets at noon on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church.  Anyone wishing to get involved is encouraged to come help Rotary with the many local projects and charities that are supported.
