Carmi Police arrested 31 year old Andrew McCauley of Carmi Friday morning on a White County warrant for theft. McCauley was observed walking on Stewart Street at 11:30 am and was taken into custody. McCauley is being held in lieu of a $2000 bond at the White County Jail.
At 12:15 pm Friday, Carmi officers took a report of a hit and run accident that occurred on 5th Street. Cassidie Brown of Carmi told officers that as she was preparing to turn right on Oak Street, a full size red pickup, possibly a Chevrolet, struck her back bumper, and then drove off. The driver was described as a white male with facial hair, approximately in his thirties.
Mark Browning of Carmi reported Friday afternoon to Carmi Police that sometime on Thursday, a Walmart bag containing several items was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked behind Danny’s Pool Room.
Saturday night, Carmi officers arrested 51 year old Steven Schmittler of Carmi at his West Street residence on a White County warrant for theft of mislaid property. Schmittlet was taken into custody at 9:54 pm and transported to the White County Jail. He was later released after posting a $150 bond.
