An early morning traffic stop on Halloween resulted in the arrest of two Indiana residents by the Carmi police department. Just before 4am, officers pulled over a car driven by 21 year old Lashayna Simunich of Evansville on outer Third Street. Simunich was found to have no valid driver’s license and was taken into custody. Her passenger, 19 year old Nathaniel Spann of New Harmony, was also arrested after a search by the K9 unit discovered marijuana in the vehicle.
Both Simunich and Spann were transported to the White County Jail. Simunich was charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia in addition to not having a license. She was released after posting a $150 bond.
Spann was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of more than 2.5 grams of cannabis, and possession with intent to deliver cannabis. He is being held without bail while awaiting a court hearing.
