Carmi Police arrest three men after violence reported over weekend

Carmi Police arrested 40 year old Donald Davis at his residence on Saunders Avenue Friday afternoon after a domestic violence incident was reported.  Davis was taken into custody at 12:50 pm and was charged with domestic battery.  Davis was additionally charged with resisting arrest, and after a search warrant was obtained for the residence, with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance (bath salts), possession of hypodermic syringes, and unlawful use of weapons by a felon.  Davis was transported to the White County Jail and is being held without bond pending a court hearing. The White County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the arrest.

Two Carmi men were taken into custody Saturday afternoon on charges of aggravated battery and mob action following an incident on Smith Drive.  The victim stated that 23 year old Donavon Mead and 23 year old Melvin Lewis attacked him at his residence just after 1 pm.  The incident is alleged to stem from a comment made by the victim to a 7 year old child.  Mead and Lewis fled the scene after witnesses stated that they were calling police, but were later found and arrested without incident.  Both Mead and Lewis are being held at the White County Jail without bond pending a court hearing.

 

Sunday afternoon, Carla Lewis of Carmi reported that someone had broken into her residence on 5th Street and had urinated on her clothes. Carmi Police are investigating. Carmi Police are investigating.
