The Carmi Police department took a theft report from Billy Newman Tuesday afternoon, stating that sometime between 6:15am and 5:30pm someone broke into his residence on 4th Street, stealing cash, electronics and vehicle parts. Newman signed a criminal complaint for criminal trespass and felony theft. The Department is continuing to investigate the crime.
Carmi Police and White County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 24 year old Nathan Johnson of Carmi Tuesday night on a White County warrant. After taking Johnson into custody just after 8pm at his residence on James Avenue, a search of his person turned up an aluminum smoking pipe and marijuana. Johnson was transported to the White County Jail, where he was additionally charged with possession of cannabis and paraphernalia. Johnson was released from custody after posting a bond of $300.
43 year old Clayton Coaliron of Carmi was arrested by city police following a traffic stop just before 11pm at the intersection of Main and Church Streets. Coaliron was found to be driving on a suspended license and transported to the White County Jail, where he was processed and released after posting a $150 bond.
