A Carmi man was arrested by Harrisburg Police Thursday morning after stealing a car in Carmi.
Harrisburg officers located the abandoned vehicle owned by Bob and Connie Johnson of Carmi and White County Sheriff’s deputies made contact with Mr. Johnson, who filled out a complaint for theft.
In the meantime, 18 year old Austin Cartmill of Carmi walked into the Harrisburg Police Department looking for a ride back to Carmi. Cartmill was detained at the Saline County Detention Center. Cartmill was transported to the White County Jail by White County corrections officers. He has been charged with theft over $500 and is being held on a $5000 cash bond.
