Busy Busy Weekend for Carmi Police

Carmi Police Reports

 

To say it was a busy weekend for the Carmi Police Department would be a bit of an understatement as Carmi Chief of Police Jason Carter released 30 pages of incident reports Tuesday afternoon.

The weekend incidents actually got underway Thursday, when local police stopped Brian Scott Mareing, 62, of 1306 Illinois Highway One, Carmi for an expired license plate sticker and arrested him for no valid driver’s license. Mareing posted $150 cash bond and a $20 booking fee prior to being released from custody.

Later than afternoon, the local police arrested Crystal M. Boaz, 37 of 310 B Shipley Street, Carmi on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a disorderly conduct charge. Bond was set at $500, plus a $75 failure to appear fee. Boaz remained in custody over the weekend.

Late Thursday night, Carmi authorities arrested a juvenile female on a disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. The report indicated the juvenile had been riding around with a convicted sexual predator and after refusing to go home was arrested on the two charges.

Friday morning, Jeremy Ray Heil, 35, rural McLeansboro was arrested after a traffic stop for failing to use a turn signal. He was wanted on a failure to appear charge out of Hamilton County for domestic battery. Bond was set at $300 and the $75 failure to appear fee.

Friday night, police arrested Jeremy Scott Allen, 40 of 225 North Main Cross Street, Carmi on charges of domestic battery, resisting/obstructing a peace officer and criminal damage to government supported property. Allen was arrested after Beth Allen signed a complaint against Jeremy, who allegedly hit her several times. Allen was later released from custody as he was arrested again Saturday morning for retail theft after he tried to buy beer at Hucks after hours. He allegedly tossed money on the counter and walked out, which resulted in complaint of retail theft being filed against him.

In other reports, Ed Newman reported two coolers were stolen from his yard at 804 North Seventh Street.

Jeff Parkhurst of 412 Oak Street signed a complaint about damage to a tent in his yard Sunday evening.

Kathryn Davis, 624 Stewart Street, Carmi, reported the theft of her 2007 car from 700 Burrell Street. The car was later recovered and Krystal S. McWhirter was arrested for unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.

And shortly after 1 Tuesday morning, Carmi police busted Dylan D. Kuykendall of 226 Steven Street, Carmi after the 23 year old Kuykendall backed into a vehicle belonging to Luke Rutledge of Carmi at Huck’s. It was deteremined Kuykendall had been drinking and he failed a field sobriety test.

He posted $100 bond and a $20 booking fee prior to being released from custody.
