Basketball will not be the only sport represented in Southeastern Illinois College’s Deaton Gymnasium on April 26, from 4-6 p.m. for this year’s sports themed Kids’ Fair. This fun day for the family boasts free food, soft drinks, games and prizes.

Community vendors representing 25-30 public agencies, civic organizations and local businesses will provide fun activities, games and prizes for the children.  There will be a life-sized picture of kids with different sports equipment in photo opportunity area, cameras or cell phones are encouraged.  This fair is designed to help promote reading, education, health, nutrition and safety in a fun manner.

New this year, we will have drawings provided by some of our vendors and local businesses.  Included are 4 tickets to Showplace Cinemas, a 30 inch Diner Bat like those used by some major league players from Dinger Bats of Ridgway, bowling tickets provided by Ross Cottom Lanes,  five batting lessons, a $100 value, from Dinger Hitting Academy, Roller Derby tickets and Z Factor passes.

Free food will be served in the SIC Harry L. Crisp Student Center cafeteria provided by WADI, Harrisburg Medical Center, Pepsi Mid-America and SIC.

Little Obie, a scale model of a real locomotive and caboose, will again thrill kids of all ages with rides around campus.  Little Obie is sponsored by the Canadian National Railway.  We expect to have a fire truck, a fire house, police car, Roller Derby guys and gals, an area to shoot archery with the help of our SIC Archery team and possibly an ambulance that the children can look inside and talk with the drivers.
