A rural Carmi woman remains behind bars while she is awaiting a mental fitness evaluation following an arrest late Thursday night. White County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at a Colony West home just before 10:30pm Thursday in reference to a wanted subject. The report indicates 30-year-old Arwen Ayslworth saw law enforcement while they were talking to her parents and retreated into the home after attempting to slam the door and it striking the officer. Ayslworth eventually emerged on the roof and an officer spoke with her for about half an hour trying to convince her to comply. Another ten minutes would pass while another officer spoke with Ayslworth and she eventually acquiesced. Online court records indicate Ayslworth appeared in court Friday via zoom where she refused the public defender and instead indicated she had hired her own counsel in Jason Drew. Ayslworth appeared in custody Monday morning and her attorney made a motion to have the defendant examined for fitness with no objection from the state. The arrest was in accordance with a Violation of a Stalking/No Contact Order of Protection. A status hearing has been set for November 3rd at 11am.
