A Crossville resident is in custody after he allegedly threw a large rock at a passing vehicle causing significant damage. White County Sheriff’s officials responded to the scene Friday afternoon and talked to the caller before making contact with the suspect, Levi Crawford. The report indicates Crawford was told he was being placed under arrest, but resisted and fled into his home. A search warrant was obtained and Sheriff’s authorities along with assistance from the Carmi PD executed the warrant.
After entry was made into the home, Crawford was located in the kitchen holding a sharp object. Officers say they ended up having to deploy a taser after giving multiple commands for Crawford to drop the object. Weiss says the taser was ineffective and officers continued verbal communication whereby Crawford was eventually talked out of the residence and taken into custody.
Crawford was then taken to the White County Jail and is facing charges of Felony Criminal Damage to Property, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice, and Reckless Conduct. He would receive an evaluation by White County EMS at the jail due to statements made while on scene.
