May 5 – 3:30-6 p.m. – Auditions for SIC Jr. Falcons Productions summer show, “Annie Jr.” will be held at the George T. Dennis Visual and Performing Arts Center. Audition slots are only required for students wishing to try out for a lead speaking or singing role. Ensemble participants do not need an audition and may attend either day to complete registration. Open to Southern Illinois students currently in grades K–9. Participation fee is $75 for the first child and $60 for each additional sibling. May 3 – 2 p.m. – Studio 618 at SIC presents “Movie Night”, a dance recital featuring music from some of your favorite blockbuster hits! This show takes the stage at the George T. May 5-9 – The Workforce and Illinois Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Illinois College will celebrate Small Business Week by featuring local small business clients on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/isbdcsic.
May 6 – 10 a.m.-12 p.m. – The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Illinois College will host “Coffee & Connections” at Steam Café. This open office hours event invites everyone to stop by, ask business-related questions, and learn about available services at the center.
May 7 – 7 p.m. – The Concert Choirs of Southeastern Illinois College and Rend Lake College and the SIC Community Band join together once again for their 2025 Spring Concert at the George T. Dennis Visual and Performing Arts Center. Free admission. The choirs will perform a second show the following night, May 8 at 7 p.m. at Rend Lake College. May 12 – SIC’s Summer Four-Day Schedule begins this week. Summer hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular hours resume on August 4.
May 14 – 12 p.m. – The Illinois Small Business Development Center will host the quarterly Women’s Business Council meeting at Tequilas. Mikilyn Walker from Active Day will be the guest speaker. All are welcome. Please reach out to Briley Lenkaitis at [email protected] with any questions.
May 15 – 4 p.m. – SIC’s Nurse Pinning Ceremony in Deaton Gymnasium. A brief reception to follow. For more information, contact the nursing office at 618-252-5400 ext. 2331.
May 15 – 7 p.m. – The Commencement for the SIC Class of 2025 will take place in the Joseph C. Deaton Gym. This ceremony is for Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 graduates and is open to the public. Graduates can pick up their cap and gown in the bookstore starting in May, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We recommend that graduates check in at the A/B lobby around 6 p.m. prior to graduation. May 19 – The first 5-week summer session begins. These mini-semester courses cover the same material as a regular 16-week course. Students can register on MySIC or email [email protected] for assistance.
May 20 – 10 a.m. – The Illinois Small Business Development Center will host a “Using AI in Your Business” workshop in room G120 at SIC. For more information, contact Briley Lenkaitis at [email protected].
May 20 – 6 p.m. –The SIC Board of Trustees meeting will be held in the Rodney J. Brenner Board Room.
May 24 – 2 p.m. – The Illinois Small Business Development Center will host a “Starting Your Business in Illinois” workshop via Zoom. For more information, contact Briley Lenkaitis at [email protected].
May 26 – SIC will be closed for Memorial Day.
May 28 – 1-4 p.m. – SIC’s Carmi Center will host a Bob Ross-inspired painting class under the guidance of instructor, Bradley Mullings. You’ll learn new techniques and take home your work the same day. No experience required. This class is perfect for beginners aged 18 and up. Space is limited. Register in person at SIC’s Carmi Center. $15 for the class plus $40 for your supplies directly to the instructor.
