The Grayville City Council met Monday night for the first time in September. Commissioner David Jordan presided over the meeting as mayor pro temp.
Before the meeting, a moment of silence was held for the victims of 9/11 and those affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
Andi Ford, representing the Grayville Lions Club and GCAA, addressed the Council about a new planned fall festival called Boo Bash on the Wabash to be held on October 28th downtown. The festival will combine many activities, including the Lions Club Costume Contest, the GCAA Chili Cook-off, and the Trunk or Treat into one day. No action was taken on any abandoned properties, excess properties, or the uniform contract.
The Park Grant bid was awarded to Johnnes Construction of Centralia in the amount of $517,290, of which the City will be responsible for $117,000. $54,300 of that cost goes to engineering fees. A new shower house, eight new camp pads with electrical service, new handicap parking at the existing shelters, a Frisbee golf course, new horseshoe pits, and new bleachers at the baseball diamond will be constructed.
Commissioner Andy Brock praised all those who made this year’s Grayville Days a success, and Commissioner Bob Stroud thanked the city workers who have repaired twelve water leaks this month.
The meeting adjourned at 7:15, and the Grayville City Council will meet next on September 25th at 7 pm.
