A Crossville woman was in White County court Tuesday morning following her arrest Monday by White County Sheriffs authorities. It was just after 8am Monday when law enforcement was dispatched to an area near Phillipstown in reference to a passed out woman in a vehicle on an oil lease road. Officers say 37-year-old Liza Armstrong said the car broke down and wanted to contact a business to have the car towed. The officer says while he was doing that, Armstrong got out of the car, approached a field, and grabbed a diaper from within the beanfield and place it under her jacket. After questioning, Armstrong said there was “dope and weed” in the diaper according to the report and alleged she’d found it in the vehicle and was trying to get rid of it. After further pressing, Armstrong placed the diaper on the squad car revealing it contained suspected methamphetamine. Armstrong was placed under arrest and after her arrival at the jail, the report indicates she admitted to taking meth and a variety of pills. She’s facing charges of Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Obstructing Justice, Unlawful Use of Property, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Armstrong had a first appearance Tuesday morning and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 28th. She was subsequently released.
61-year-old William Holloman of Carmi turned himself in Tuesday morning just after 9am. Holloman was wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant related to a plea deal from earlier this year. In March, the Smith Street man was charged with Possession of Meth, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Hypodermic Syringes, and Unlawful Use of Property with regards to Methamphetamine. In June, Holloman agreed to a plea deal finding him guilty of the Unlawful Use of Property charge with the remaining counts dismissed. Holloman is lodged in the White County Jail.
