Carmi Police Make Drug Arrests; Another on Threat

A 61-year-old New Haven woman is behind bars following her arrest Friday afternoon by Carmi authorities.  Officers say they say Clara Brown enter the drivers side of a vehicle at Wal Mart just before 2pm, followed her and witnessed several traffic infractions prompting a stop on Main at Commerce.  A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating contraband prompting her arrest.  Brown is facing charges of Possession of Meth, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle.  She’s also been cited for disregarding a traffic control device and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.  Police say Brown was also wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant for Driving While License Suspended that dates back to 2023.

 

Saturday evening, Carmi Police pulled over 26-year-old Marshell Parker of McLeansboro just before 9:30 for driving with a headlight out.  Parker was placed under arrest for Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by a Driver.  He’ll be due in court May 26th.  Parker was released about an hour and a half following his arrest.

Carmi Police arrested 37-year-old Amy Flowers at her Third Street home Sunday morning.  It was just after 11am when officers descended on her apartment following a report of her threatening to kill someone.  She’s facing preliminary charges of Assault and Disorderly Conduct.  Flowers was booked and released just after 2pm.  She’ll be due in court May 26th at 9am.

A Herrin woman and Eldorado man were arrested Sunday evening just before 11pm.  The traffic stop by Carmi Police occurred at Caseys.  The driver, 20-year-old Mahayla Tibbs of Herrin was cited on a charge of Driving on a Suspended Registration due to a mandatory insurance violation and subsequently arrested on Driving with a Suspended License and Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle charges.  The passenger, 24-year-old Ethan Tibbs is also facing a charge of Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle.  Both were booked and released with a morning court date of May 26th.
