White County Court News

In White County court Thursday, 35-year-old Jenny Ward pled guilty to a charge of Theft that dates back to July of 2025.  She’ll receive 2 years of conditional discharge, was fined, and ordered to pay Wal-Mart $30.84 in restitution.  If she violates that conditional discharge, the court also gave her a 6 month stayed jail sentence.  Coinciding with the plea deal, a charge of speeding in a separate incident was dismissed.

Though we haven’t received a report from law enforcement, we know 41-year-old Randall Grimes of Norris City was in court for a first appearance Thursday.  He’s facing a charge of Domestic Battery.  He was apparently arrested Wednesday and released after his first appearance Thursday morning.  Grimes is due back in court for formal arraignment on April 29th.

32-year-old Rex Dalton Reel is due to be sentenced next Thursday, January 29th.  He was in court for a final pre-trial Thursday and agreed to a plea deal which found him guilty of Residential Arson, amended from an original charge of Aggravated Arson.  Additional charges of arson and Criminal Damage to Property were dismissed per the deal.  Reel has been released with an ankle monitor into the custody of his mother so that he can attend the birth of his child in northern Illinois.  If Reel returns on time, remains clean and doesn’t break the law, he’ll receive a 6-year sentence in the Department of Corrections according to court documents.
