White County Supervisor of Assessments Issues Release Regarding Equalization Factor of 1.0550

From the Office of Gary Baxley, Supervisor of Assessments for White County, Illinois:

We are in the process of completing our 2025 Assessment Year. The Department of Revenue has evaluated all White County sales for years 2022, 2023, 2024, and I will tentatively need to apply an equalization factor of 1.0550 which is much lower than the two previous years. Each sale sets a market value for that property and per statute should have an assessment of 33.33%. Because of the sales, statute requires us to make the necessary adjustments. We have been working hard to make property more equitable and to reduce or eliminate the need for equalizers.

Notices of all 2025 property assessment changes will soon be mailed to respective property owners. Change notices will be published in the Wayne County Press on December 24, 2025. They are also available for viewing on our White County Supervisor of Assessments web page. The White County Board of Review will be in session for 30 days after publication to address any assessment complaints.

If you have questions regarding your assessment change, we recommend you contact the assessment office for explanation. If you feel the need to appeal to the Board of Review, your application form can be picked up at our office at 323 E. Main St., Carmi, Illinois along with the rules for appealing to the Board of Review. We recommend you read the rules carefully before submitting the formal complaint, which must be turned in no later than January 23, 2026.
