What started as a welfare check Tuesday evening turned into a warrant arrest. White County Sheriff’s authorities were called to an Elm Street address in Carmi just after 9:30pm. The caller had requested a welfare check on 46-year-old Kelly Wardrip saying the man was possibly suicidal. Talking with the subject, the report indicates Wardrip said his ex-wife was worried about him because of something he’d said, but that he didn’t need medical treatment and was otherwise fine. At that point, the officer says he told Wardrip he had been advised of a Failure to Appear warrant that dates all the way back to 1998. Wardrip was subsequently taken into custody and jailed.
