It will be a month Thursday since White County Sheriff called in Illinois State Police to investigate suspected misconduct by a local correctional officer. A check with State Police returned a response of “This is an active ISP investigation and to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, there is no information available to share at this time.” Weiss says it was November 11th morning during a routine review of security cameras that they saw a corrections officer enter the cell of a female inmate the night prior and that the video showed what appeared to be inappropriate conduct. Weiss says the corrections officer in question was a three-year full time employee and that the individual has been placed on leave without pay. We’ll continue to check in with ISP officials until we find out whether charges are filed or the case is closed.
