Car Chase, Shoplifting, Possession, and More Land Three In Jail

Carmi Police conducted a traffic stop in Carmi on a Norris City resident on Thursday.
Kimberly Smith, a Norris City resident, was apprehended by the police on Thursday. She faces a slew of serious charges, including Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While License Suspended, and Possession of Cannabis in a Vehicle by a Driver.
The passenger in the vehicle, Michelle Miller, was cited for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol and released from the scene.

Friday afternoon, the Carmi Police responded to the Carmi Walmart in reference to a report of shoplifting by an employee.
Upon arrival, officers met with the Walmart Loss Prevention area, and after a brief investigation, 20-year-old Aaron Meade was arrested for Retail Theft.
In the report, it was stated that Meade had been failing to scan all items in his cart and using less valuable barcodes to scan higher-cost items.
Meade was transported to the White County Jail and was later released on Pre-Trial conditions.

Lastly, Carmi Police were busy on Sunday with a vehicle chase.
An individual notified Carmi Police about a property damage accident with a power utility pole and reckless driving on East Main Street.
The driver in question and the vehicle were located by police, but the driver decided to flee from law enforcement in the car.
Carmi officers, with assistance from the White County Sheriff’s Department, were able to arrest 33-year-old Mitchell Davis of Cynthiana, Indiana, after he crashed his vehicle.
Davis was given citations and arrested for DUI of Alcohol, DUI of Alcohol .08 or greater, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Fleeing/Attempting to Elude Police.
