White County Coroner Chris Marsh says results from the medical examiner in Springfield have come back revealing the cause of death of 2-year-old Aspen Nelson as Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Syndrome. Illinois State Police were investigating the death after they were called to assist on Friday, April 18th. Marsh says the toxicology came back clean; the medical examiner found no signs of abuse, and the youngster wasn’t malnourished. Marsh described the condition as similar to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) which can occur in children under the age of 12 months. The child’s parents were notified of the findings Monday morning.
