Back on Friday the Carmi-White County Softball team fell to Carterville in the IHSA 2A Harrisburg Regional Championship Game by a final score of 5-0. 

Carterville scored 2 in the 1st inning and then 3 in the 6th inning, the Lady Bulldogs only managed one hit against the defending State Champions and the #1 team in Class 2A. Carterville advances to the Murphysboro Sectional where they will face Red Bud. 

Carmi-White County ends their season 12-14, and the careers of seniors Alayna Johnson and Ashlyn Rager come to an end.

Congratulations to Coach Smith and the Lady Bulldogs on a great season!

In other IHSA Softball action from Friday;

Elverado defeated Crab Orchard 3-0.
Waltonville defeated Trico 5-1.
Edwards County defeated Grayville 12-0.

2A –
Johnston City defeated Pinckneyville 6-2.
Anna-Jonesboro defeated Mt. Carmel 5-4.
Newton defeated Flora 3-0.

In IHSA Baseball Regional Championship from Saturday;
1A –
Waltonville defeated Trico 6-1.
Hardin County defeated Century 6-3.
Goreville defeated Gallatin County 11-0.

2A –
DuQuoin defeated Nashville 5-4.
Harrisburg defeated Johnston City 4-2.
West Frankfort defeated Vienna 16-6.
Pinckneyville defeated Zeigler-Royalton 12-3.

Congratulations to Carmi-White County seniors Kale Wiggins and Ashlyn Rager for being voted the 2025 WRUL Sports Male & Female Athletes of the Year. This year nearly 6,200 votes were casted. Wiggins and Rager were both 4-sport athletes, leading the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs to successful campaigns in every season. Wiggins will be attending Purdue University this fall to study Engineering, and Rager will be attending Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington to study Exercise Science and play volleyball.
