The Carmi-White County Baseball team traveled to DuQuoin back on Saturday, and the Bulldogs fell by a final score of 5-3.
DuQuoin scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, and then another in the bottom of the 2nd to make it a 4-0 Indians lead. The Bulldogs slowly chipped away, scoring one in the 3rd, one in the 4th, and one in the 6th to make it a 4-3 game before DuQuoin added an insurance run in the 6th inning. Carmi had the tying run on base in the top of the 7th inning but were unable to score.
Carmi-White County falls to 9-11-1 on the season. This week is the final week of the regular season and the Bulldogs are scheduled to play three home games, hosting Flora on Wednesday, Hamilton County on Thursday, and Fairfield on Friday.
Carmi will begin regional play next Monday at home against Hamilton County.
The Carmi-White County Softball team took part in the Benton Tournament on Saturday, and the Lady Bulldogs went 2-1 on the day.
Carmi fell to Marion by a final score of 5-1 to begin the day, but they bounced back and defeated Chester by a final of 7-3 before defeating Goreville by a final of 11-5.
The Lady Bulldogs are back in action today as they will host Hamilton County at Archie Brown Field. Carmi will host Olney on Wednesday before wrapping up the regular season with a trip to Hamilton County on Thursday.
The Lady Bulldogs will begin postseason play in the Harrisburg Regional next Tuesday.
The Carmi-White County Boys Tennis team will host Fairfield this afternoon at Bradshaw Park.
The Carmi-White County Boys Track team will travel to Fairfield today for the Rick Book Invitational.
The Carmi-White County Girls Track team will travel to Harrisburg today for their final meet of the regular season.
