
The Enfield Village Board held another lengthy board meeting Tuesday night for just under two and a half hours. Scott Mareing was there and has this report…
The board, after holding off for the last couple of months, approved paying the one-time Dispatch Fee of $3,600 to the White County Sheriff’s Department. It wasn’t due until June 1st.
Beverly Thompson and Khrystyn Gunther of Animal Control, quit their positions because they didn’t like the way they had been treated concerning the work they were doing at the Community Center, so as of now the position is vacant.
The Police contract was renewed for Springerton. It was back-dated to April 1st. Also, the Police contract for Mill Shoals was approved, as was discussed at last month’s meeting, and includes the use of their police vehicle for 13 months, and after that it would be owned by Enfield.
During the February 11th meeting, the board members went into Executive Session, and afterwards approved an ordinance allowing Sunday liquor sales. After consulting with attorneys, it was decided that was inappropriate since the item was not on the agenda, so the liquor ordinance was not updated.
In other business, there is no update on the street lighting due to a holdup by Ameren.
After a several month process the small business grant was approved.
The village is looking to accept donations to sponsor a pole for Christmas lights for anyone that’s interested.
They should hear something soon concerning the sewer grant.
It now looks like the new truck they purchased will not arrive until the first or second week of June.
The town wide rummage sale will be on Saturday, May 17th and town wide clean-up day will be on Saturday May 31st.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the park on Saturday April 19th at 1 PM sharp.
The village is still seeking bids to purchase the 20 acres behind the park.
The board approved a sponsorship donation of $100 to the Norris City Athletic Association for their summer league, a $100 donation to NCOE for their Drug Free Graduation Party, and $1,000 for Fourth of July fireworks.
The board members received a “Thank You” card from Karen Weiss for the wind chimes at her mother’s funeral.
They are looking at obtaining grants for various repairs at the Community Center.
In the Police report for March, Chief Titzer said there were several investigations into sexual assaults, two arsons found, and burglaries and drug trafficking were down.
In the Utilities report, the village will look into a road program for asphalt and concrete for streets.
The board went into a 45 minute Executive Session at 8:32 PM.
After the session the board approved a $1.25 an hour raise for the village employees beginning with the next pay period.
