Crossville Amends Fire Department Door Purchase, Puts Property Up for Bid, Sets Yard Sale Date

It was too good to be true.  At the March 26th meeting, Crossville Trustees cautiously hoped they’d be able to get a new fire department door for just $675 and moved toward making that purchase if it was indeed an aluminum or steel frame. Read more at Crossville Trustees Approve Structure Permits, Fire Dept Door; Mayor Warns Against Flippant Bill Payers – WRUL-FM Turns out, the door frame in the bid was wood framed which brought the matter back up before council Tuesday evening.  Leaders opted to go with an aluminum framed steel door which will amount to $1,200 in total with installation.

Additionally Tuesday night, Trustees discussed issuing a new invitation to bid for property located at 304 2nd Street and scheduling village wide yard sales and spring clean up day.  Regarding the property, it was acquired by the village in 2022 and has been put up for bid before but no bids were submitted.  The village already has $6,210 in it for demolition, taxes, and legal paperwork and is responsible for mowing.  Last time, the village put the property up for bid, they set a minimum of $4,500.  Trustees agreed they wouldn’t get that this time either and decided to lower the minimum bid to $3,000.  On village yard sales and clean up day, Clerk Selena Harrell says…

So we had a couple people inquire about the yard sales.  May 17th would be the Saturday before Alumni and then clean up could be like the 19th so that Monday following because the Alumni would be the 24th.  It’s the Saturday before Memorial Day.  That’s what we’ve done in the past.

Trustees agreed to move forward with checking in trash service to coordinate.

Mayor Henry Feldmann was absent.  Newly elected Rick Kuykendall was in attendance to observe.  The meeting adjourned at 6:50pm and will reconvene on Tuesday, April 29th.
