Busy Weekend for Carmi Police

Carmi Police arrested a handful of people over the past few days.

Up first was Carmi resident Gregory Burchfield. The White County Probation Office discovered a device with urine on his person. Due to that, Burchfield was arrested for Defrauding a Drug Screening and taken to the White County Jail.
A Preliminary hearing will be on March 26th at 10 AM.

On Friday, 40-year-old William Garrison was transported to the White County Jail on a range of charges, including Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, and Delivery of Alcohol to a Minor.
The juvenile in this situation was also arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and was later released on a Notice to Appear.
That’s not all; another man was involved but taken to the hospital after he sustained injuries from a fight that occurred before an attempt of a motorist assist. Future charges are expected on the individual.

A traffic stop on Saturday resulted in the arrest of Albion native Terry Lee.
Carmi Police stated lane violations were the reason for the traffic stop, but police found more than they suspected. Lee received charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance that includes Fentanyl and Hydrocodone. The lane violation became a written warning for Improper Lane Usage.
A Preliminary hearing will be on April 14th at 10 AM.

The last arrest from Carmi Police over the weekend was 35-year-old Amanda Pettyjohn.
Pettyjohn was initially stopped for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration. She was booked and released with citations, including Driving with No Valid Driver’s License, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Registration.
Pettyjohn will have her first appearance on the charges on March 29th at 9 AM.
