Board members, volunteers, Carmi Chamber of Commerce, and community members all gathered Friday morning at the corner of Third and Smith to break ground on a long-time coming project leaders hope to have open this fall. About 4 dozen individuals came out on a cloudy morning and Executive Director Tina Youngman had this to say prior to marking the occasion.
Thank you guys so much, everyone for coming out this morning. This is an extremely important event for us. We’ve waited a really long time; we didn’t know if this day was ever going to come. We’re just super happy. God’s faithfulness is beyond our understanding and we’re so very grateful to the community…anyone who’s ever given a single penny, a shirt or anything to the Compassion Center. I don’t have all the right words this morning. I’m full of all kinds of emotions and most of you know I’m pretty wired all the time. So not just from me, but the crew that works at the CCC and our board who are all amazing people who care very much about this community…all of us are just super grateful that God made this happen. I just want to say thank you and please continue to pray over this project, this property, and over all of us as we prepare to do the big move and all that stuff.
