1938-2026
Marshall Glover, 88, of Equality passed to his heavenly home on Monday morning,
October 12 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Marshall was born in Equality
on July 22, 1938, to Holman and Greela Bean Glover. He graduated from Equality High
School in 1956. He later served in the Army in the 101 st Airborne Division
. Marshall married the former Francie Ripperdan on June 12, 1965, and they spent over
61 years together.
He worked several places over the years including B & W in Mt. Vernon, IN and
Peabody Strip Mine in Shawneetown. He was known in the area for raising acres of
Ginseng and Goldenseal. He was an avid gardener, and nothing gave him more pleasure
than to give away the produce from his garden. He also had pecan trees and enjoyed
picking up pecans and giving them away also. But the real passion of his life was serving
Jesus.
His life changed in 1971 when he became a Christian. His total desire was to serve the
Lord and spread the Gospel. He was one of the men God used to establish the Equality
Christian Center in 1975. He later became the first principal at the Christian School in
1979. Marshall was also principal at Carmi Christian Academy in Carmi for a few years.
Marshall ministered in many churches in southern Illinois. He was so blessed to see the
fruit of those early labors when the Equality Christian Center merged and became New
Life Christian Center. He was thankful to see the growth and impact the church has on
the surrounding communities. He had an amazing memory and was able to quote much of
the Bible and was always eager to share the Scripture to whomever would listen.
His other passion was his family whom he loved with all of his heart, and they gave him
great joy. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is
survived by his wife, Francie, his daughter, Beth and Kalin Dahl of Tulsa, OK, and his
son, Steve and Jamie Glover of Equality. He is also survived by three granddaughters,
Alexandra and Brandan Shaw, Victoria and Paul McCauley, and Gabriella and Sam
Morrell, and three grandsons, Layton Glover, Elliott Glover and his fiancé, Kaylee Klope,
and Liam Glover. He was also proud of his five great granddaughters, Maeve Morrell,
Harper and Cassidy Shaw, and Sloane and Covey June McCauley. Marshall is also
survived by his sisters-in-law, Sally Ripperdan and Martha Glover and nephews, Jeff
Glover, Kurt Glover, Doug Glover, and nieces, Shelly Collins and Angie Korenoski.
. He is also survived by several great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Holman (H) Glover and Greela Glover Holland,
two brothers, Terry Glover and Franklin Glover.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 17 th , 2026 at the New Life Christian Center in
Equality, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, and the service will begin at 1:00 PM
with Pastor Blake Clayton officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Equality,
IL with military rites.
He lived a life dedicated to the Lord and was looking forward to the time when he would
enter into his reward and hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant;…Enter
thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
