Three Agree to Plea Deals in White County Court Thursday; One Headed to DOC

An Eldorado woman agreed to a plea deal in White County court Thursday.  A warrant was issued and served on 51-year-old Kristi Southerd in February related to an alleged battery that occurred in January.  After a first appearance in March, Southerd pled down on an amended charge of Disorderly Conduct Thursday and Judge Webb handed down a 2-year Supervision/Withhold Judgment ruling.  Southerd will also be ordered to pay a fine and was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

38-year-old George Winerberger was able to evade a potentially more serious punishment after agreeing to a plea deal Thursday.  In early January, the Carmi man was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Cannabis (More than 30 grams, less than 100 grams), Unlawful Possession of Cannabis by a Driver, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by a Driver.  States Attorney Chris Neal signed off on a plea deal that saw Winerberger plead guilty to the Possession over 30 grams/less than 100 grams charge while the other counts were dismissed.  He’ll serve 2 years of supervision and face fines totaling more than $2,700.

37-year-old Oscar Bartlett is headed to prison for up to 4 years following a plea deal in White County court Thursday.  The Carmi man was facing charges picked up in late January of Possession of Meth, Illegal Use of Property with regards to meth, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  In addition, Bartlett had a case involving a Possession of Meth charge and a Possession of Drug Paraphernalia charge that dated back to mid-November of last year.  Bartlett was sentenced to 4 years in the Department of Corrections on the Possession of Meth charges  while the other charges were dropped.  Those sentences are to be served concurrently.  He’ll have a year of mandatory supervised release once he’s out and faces fines totaling more than $2,200.
