Crossville resident Jeffrey Nelson was arrested Thursday morning on a White County warrant.
According to online court records, Nelson’s warrant is for a charge of Threatening a Public Official. The victim is the Honorable Judge T. Scott Webb.
Nelson was arrested Thursday and appeared before a judge on Friday; the Honorable Judge Thomas Dinn III recused himself from the case. The case was given to Second Circuit Judge Melissa Morgan to assign a judge.
During Nelson’s first court appearance Friday, the court ordered that Nelson be released on pre-trial conditions and wear a GPS monitoring device. Nelson is not allowed to be within 1,000 feet of Judge Webb and another victim in the matter. Nelson was also ordered to complete a mental health evaluation within 30 days and surrender all firearms to law enforcement.
Nelson will go before a judge again for his preliminary hearing on August 21 at 10 am.
