A 51-year-old Carmi man is free following his arrest Monday morning. Carmi Police responded to North Main Cross just before noon in reference to a trespassing. After speaking to the homeowner and receiving a signed formal complaint, officers arrested Donald Stover. He was booked and released with a notice to appear just before 2pm. Stover just recently was released from the Department of Corrections following a 2024 conviction on a charge of Use of Vehicle/Property in the Production of Meth and Resisting a Peace officer following a 2022 arrest. He had been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in that case. He was released early and this past December picked up charges of Criminal Damage to Property and Theft. The court found probable cause during a hearing in March and Stover is due for a Pre-Trial hearing in that case this coming June.
