Carmi Police were busy this past weekend, with numerous arrests.
The first arrest came Friday morning, a little before 8:30, when 42-year-old Washington, Indiana, native Justin Harmon was arrested.
Carmi Police assisted White County Jail Corrections Officers with Harmon. He was charged with Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer, Threatening a Public Official, and Resisting a Peace Officer. After appearing before a judge Monday morning, Harmon was released and given a preliminary hearing for August 24 at 1 pm.
Just 27 minutes later, CPD officers were dispatched to an address on Maple Street in reference to a domestic situation.
After an investigation, 35-year-old Michael Hays was placed under arrest for Domestic Battery and Disorderly Conduct.
Hays was released from the White County Jail Monday morning and given a court appearance for his arraignment on August 24 at 9:30 am.
Later on Friday, 23-year-old Dakota Potson was arrested at his Sixth Street residence on a White County warrant from July 10.
The warrant for Potson is for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. As of Monday morning, he has not been released from the White County Jail.
Triston Phillips was arrested by Carmi Police for Driving While License Suspended following a traffic stop Friday night. He was also cited for Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration.
Phillips was given a Notice to Appear and issued a first appearance for August 18 at 9 am.
A little before 5 am Saturday, an unknown male at the time was arrested following a burglary-in-progress call to a residence on Jessup Street. He was later identified as 65-year-old Joseph Baker.
Baker is facing charges of two counts of Criminal Trespass to Land, Disorderly Conduct, and Criminal Damage to Property. He was released after appearing before a judge Monday morning and given an arraignment for August 24 at 9:30 am.
On Sunday, Kyle McGhee was arrested for Violation of an Order of Protection. According to the arrest report, McGhee had called the victim while she was in the Carmi Police Department lobby in front of an officer.
McGhee was later located and taken into custody. Monday morning, he was released on electronic monitoring and will be back before a judge on August 24 at 9:30 am for his arraignment hearing.
The last arrest of the weekend was 19-year-old Chayton Childers.
Childers was pulled over Sunday night for failure to stop at a stop sign and improper turn signal. He was then placed under arrest for No Valid Driver’s License and given a court date for August 25 at 9 am for his First Appearance.
