A Carmi man with a lengthy rap sheet added to it in Evansville over the weekend. 33-year-old Daniel K. Poshard was arrested by Evansville Police Saturday after a Flock camera alert notified them a stolen vehicle was traveling in the city. Officers say they responded and began searching for the vehicle eventually finding it in the parking lot of Pawn 2 Cash on Weinbach Avenue.
While officers documented the contents, they located methamphetamine and a syringe. Additionally, they say they found numerous firearms and more than sixty hand and power tools inside the vehicle. One of those firearms was listed as stolen out of Illinois; there may have been others but the victim didn’t have serial numbers for the additional guns. That report also listed numerous stolen tools.
Poshard is facing Indiana charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Theft of Firearm, Auto Theft, Possession of Meth, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Criminal Conversion.
Here in White County, Poshard most recently was charged with Driving on a Suspended/Revoked License with regards to a DUI, a Class 4 Felony back on July 3rd. He was in court here September 2nd for a first appearance with a preliminary hearing set for October 6th. You may also remember Poshard was arrested and subsequently sentenced in late 2022 on Burglary charges after he was found guilty following thousands of dollars worth of shoes being stolen from the Carmi Christmas Elves non-profit. In November of 2022, Poshard was sentenced to 5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and ordered to pay $7,500 in restitution.
