State Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, joined members of the Illinois State Rifle Association Wednesday in Springfield for their annual Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day and called on lawmakers to end their attacks on law-abiding gun owners and the Second Amendment.
“I love seeing and talking with fellow gun owners who understand the importance of our Second Amendment rights and the need to fight against the Chicago politicians who are trying to take our guns,” Phelps said. “I have been advocating for gun owners for years and every time they come to Springfield I am in awe of their passion and drive to protect our rights.”
The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) was originally created over a 100 years ago as a way to train civilians to be able to protect themselves and their families. It has since evolved into an organization that works to protect the basic freedoms of Illinoisans who own guns.
“The State Rifle Association is a strong advocate for gun owners all around the state, especially Southern Illinois,” Phelps said. “I am committed to working with them in the future to introduce and support legislation that supports our basic rights as gun owners.”
