A Norris City man is recovering after a frighting crash between a side-by-side UTV and the Indian Creek road commissioner Wednesday. White County Sheriff Jordan Weiss says emergency responders were called to the crash on County Road 700 North where they found Marcus Hughes ejected from the side by side after colliding with a township vehicle driven by David Wheeler. Hughes received aid at the scene and was subsequently airlifted by helicopter for treatment. He’s currently in stable condition. An investigation revealed Wheeler was eastbound when Hughes approached. The report indicates for unknown reasons, Hughes entered the roadway from a stop sign and struck Wheeler’s vehicle.
