Norris City man killed in collision Sunday night

A young Norris City man was killed in a tractor and truck collision Sunday night on Illinois Route 141 in Gallatin County.

According to the preliminary crash report issued Monday afternoon by the Illinois State Police, 20 year old Timothy Brinkley was pulling a disc plow while driving east at 8:18 pm when the implement was struck by a pickup driven by 58 year old Billy Karnes of Eldorado. The impact caused Brinkley’s tractor to overturn.

Brinkley was pronounced deceased at the scene. Karnes was transported by Air Evac to a regional hospital. A third vehicle was damaged due to debris from the collision, but neither the driver or a passenger were injured. A crash reconstruction officer has been assigned, and no charges have been filed at this time.

District 19 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the White County Sheriff’s Department, Norris City Police, the Norris City Fire Department, Omaha Fire Department, New Haven Fire Department, Norris City First Responders, White County Ambulance, Air Evac, White County Coroner, and Cherry Street Automotive.
